Specialized's Epic Expert Carbon 29er is ready for XC domination — from World Cup racing to blowing by your riding buddies on after-work rides, and even epic adventures away from home. This carbon rocket features 100mm of Specialized's world-renowned, Brain-controlled FSR rear suspension that delivers hardtail-like efficiency on smooth sections and fully active, plush travel on technical terrain. Its RockShox SID fork boasts 100mm of trail-smoothing precision thanks to Brain technology as well. 2x10 Shimano/SRAM gearing with an XTR Plus rear derailleur are powered by svelte SRAM carbon cranks to give you all the push you'll need and more. When it's time to slow down to earthly speeds, Magura's discs get it done, while the carbon Roval 29er wheels track the trail with ease. Top it off with a sweet selection of Specialized's aluminum components as well as their trail-hugging tubeless-ready tires for a smooth, solid ride ready for anything.
Specialized's FSR suspension offers plush travel, incredible control, unbeatable traction and an overall awesome ride because it's completely unaffected by pedaling and braking forces. This design also eliminates "bobbing" for optimum climbing and acceleration.
The Brain is the mastermind behind Specialized's ultra-efficient suspension designs. It automatically turns the suspension on and off almost instantaneously to provide the perfect ride. An inertia valve mounted inside a near-vertical cylinder near the rear axle controls the shock's ability to compress; the resulting system responds to terrain input (bumps and dips), but not to rider input (pedaling). All Brains also feature Brain Fade technology which allows you to control the breakaway threshold of the inertia valve. This turns your Brain from ultra rigid and efficient to super plush and active.
Specialized's FACT (Functional Advanced Composite Technology) carbon frames and components are made from the finest materials and utilize a unique manufacturing process that creates amazing durability, awesome efficiency and super-low weight.

Comments:
This is a great bike and the suspension feels much more than the 100mm because of the 29er wheels. Best bike I have ever owned! Only complaint is the brakes howl easily!
