Whether you're out on the race course or on a fast-paced ride with your buddies, Specialized's Epic Comp 29 excels. Its M5-aluminum frame descends and climbs superbly thanks to 100mm of Specialized's legendary Brain-controlled FSR suspension that delivers unparalleled pedal power and control. You'll also love the smooth RockShox Reba RL fork, crisp-shifting SRAM 2x10 drivetrain and the sure-stopping Magura discs that let you hold maximum speed until the last possible second. Plus, the fast, 29-inch Roval wheels and Specialized tires deliver the best in acceleration and traction and the Specialized bar, stem, and renowned Body Geometry saddle are up to any XC task.

Specialized FSR Rear Suspension

Specialized's FSR suspension offers plush travel, incredible control, unbeatable traction and an overall awesome ride because it's completely unaffected by pedaling and braking forces. This design also eliminates "bobbing" for optimum climbing and acceleration.

    Comments:

My old bike was a rockhopper 26, and now I have a Epic Comp 29. I jumped like 4 levels. So I can't compare. However, I was researching other brands, and for this price including the offer Megacycle did, I think I got the best bike I can. It is incredible the change in rough terrains. My only complain, is that I miss Shimano in my rear derailleur. Shift speeds is noisy and I think it takes more time. Maybe need an adjustment because I can't reach the last speed.

      Comments:

Sizing on these is finicky so have Sprockets fit it. Go tubeless. Get a crossbar thing if you plan to transport it on a BONES rack. Suspension is easy enough to set up and maintain that a noobie feels confident. Then... prepare for the ride of your life. This baby hugs the trail and flies like a roller coaster. Try- just try- to wipe that smile off your face.

      Comments:

I picked up the Epic 29'er to upgrade from a 26" bike and wanted something with a good suspension design. Vertually no pedal bob when climbing and handles corners very well. For the money its a fairly light bike and fast. My only complaint is the roval wheelset. I've only had the bike for a few months and the rear wheel has broke twice. Cassette body once and now the axle bearings. For this price you think Specialized would give you descent wheels.
